Our Story
We deliver the work that keeps gas, water, wastewater and energy networks running – safely, reliably and at scale.
The company was incorporated in 2002, initially providing plumbing services within the water utilities sector. From this point the team expanded into other utility works, including private water supplies, internal blockages and network repairs. Continued growth led to a rebrand in 2008, when the name Caecillian was adopted. Inspired by the caecilian, a worm-like amphibian that burrows beneath the ground, the name reflects the underground infrastructure work that remains at the heart of our business today.
Since then, Caecillian has evolved into a multi-disciplinary infrastructure partner operating across gas, water, wastewater and energy services. Today, more than 400 employees support major utility programmes across the North West, North Wales, Yorkshire and Humberside delivering essential services safely, reliably and at scale.
2006
The business entered the gas sector, supporting Enterprise PLC with mains replacement works.
2008
As the business expanded beyond traditional plumbing, it was rebranded as Caecillian, named after a worm-like amphibian known for burrowing underground.
2014
Caecillian became a Tier 1 Delivery Service Partner for Northern Gas Networks, marking a significant step in the growth of our gas operations.
2018
We continued to diversify, delivering wastewater civil engineering works and exploring opportunities across telecommunications infrastructure.
2020
Caecillian became a full turnkey provider for water repairs and maintenance, supporting projects from excavation through to repair and reinstatement.
2023
New management brought fresh direction, renewed ambition and a clear vision for Caecillian’s future.
2026
Our operations now sit across three defined business units: Gas Capital, Water Capital, and Water & Wastewater Reactive Works, creating a stronger structure for continued growth.
